Is it possible to “make” more time?

We’ve all heard it said that we all have 24 hours in a day. How is it that some people seem to get SO much done, and others, like me sometimes, seem to struggle checking even one or two things off the list?

Making Time

If a person has an abundance of money, they can’t actually buy more time, but they can pay for someone else to do some of their necessary “tasks”, but most of us don’t have that luxury.
There are less expensive ways to “buy more time” such as buying pre-made meals, or hiring a house cleaning service once a month. You don’t have to be rich to be able to do these types of things, and you may find it worth it to invest those dollars if you consider how much you could earn by working your business during that time instead of cooking or cleaning.

Saving Time

Another term we hear quite frequently is to “save time”. Obviously we can’t bank our time for future use, but what we CAN do is learn to use our time more wisely, and squeeze as much out of it as you can.

While there are times to be present and single-tasking, such as reading a bedtime story or listening to your teen talk about their date, there are many things that can be done simultaneously. On my daily 30 minute commute, I am always listening to a business podcast or books on audio. On occasion I do use this time to catch up with friends or family.

Planning and focus is key

Many times the biggest obstacle to saving time is focus and direction. How many times have you thought “Oh my goodness, I am not even sure where to begin!”

This is where systems and processes can really help. If you “know” what you are supposed to be doing after you drop the kids at school, or how you want to best use your lunch hour to build your business in some way, then you are more likely to do those things. Attaching certain business activities to certain actions can increase your success rate in getting those important things done.
